manually create a symlink in konqi's remote folder

hi all,

i had some problems opening files on the server with non KDE apps, when i used Knetattach to connect through smb.
No problems however when i simply mount the share.

i admit my problem is purely esthetic actually, since there are nice little pointers in kde to the networkfolder ( remote:/ ) i would like this location to show the network shares for the user i'm setting this up for.
my first thought was to make a symlink in remote:/ or configure an existing link to point to /mnt/fileonserver
but this simply does not work (guess remote is not a real location) and not sure if this would reproduce the same error as before using Knetattach.

another thought would be to change the default shortcut Network folders from remote:/ to for example /home/user/.networkfolder

anybody an idea how to show the network locations in a logical location in KDE.?

dear all,

glad to say i can answer my own question here.
what i did is the following.
i made a mountpoint in fstab that will mount a share on the server on "/mnt/shareonserver" on boot for the user

then i made a connection with Knetattach and marked "create an icon for this remote folder"

i will not use this connection however, only the icon!! since when accessing the share through here leaves me with openoffice not being able to open files on the server.

since the location this link points to can not be altered directly i went to
/home/user/.kde/share/apps/remoteview
where there's a nice little icon called "shareonserver.desktop"
a simple right click on this icon and change the URL to "/mnt/shareonserver/"

and voila! problem solved!!
