Manually changing /pkgconf/*.pc files, it's that correct?

Hello,

I want to upgrade my gtk to the new version. When I run ./configure it says that i have an old Glib version (2.6.0) BUT 2.12.9 has been found. That's because I have manually installed the new GLib to /usr/local/lib...

My solution has been replacing /usr/lib/pkgconfig/glib-2.0.pc to any other extension (i.e: glib-2.0.pc.old) and avoid the detection of the old library. Then run ldconfig and configure again and any problem.

Have I made it right? I'm sure there is some way to point to libraries explicitly... anyway, i get some errors while i run make. (seems obvious).

Thanks,
