I'd love to give Linux a go, but I can't get it to work! during installation (from 3 CD's) xorg, firefox and a few other things show error messages when installing. The CD's don't appear to have scratches or faults. Partitions are created as per instruction and appear fine. ???????? help!
You need to make sure that the md5sums of the isos ($md5sum name_of_iso.iso) match those posted on the Mandriva mirrors. Also try burning your isos at a low speed e.g. 8x.
Linux Format discs tend to be well tested and I have never had a problem with them. If you believe the discs are alright, then try reinstalling and if you keep having the same problems try a difference cdrom drive if possible.
