I got a wireless Linksys wireless card yesterday (WUSB54GC) and am trying to install the driver from my Mandriva install DVD. When I install, the following happens.
Code:
installing dms-rt2870-1.4.0.0-1mdv2009.1.noarch.rpm from media/cdrom/x86_64/media/contrib
[stuff happens]
Creating symlink /var/lib/dkms/rt2870/1.4.0.0-1mdv2009.1/source ->
/usr/src/rt2870-1.4.0.0-1mdv2009.1

DKMS: add Completed.

Error! Your kernel source for kernel 2.6.29.1-desktop-4mnb cannot be found at /lib/modules/2.6.29.1-desktop-mnb/build or lib/modules/2.6.29.1-desktop-4mnb/source.
You can use the --kernelsourcedir option to tell DKMS where it's located.

Error! Could not locate rt2870sta.ko.gz for module rt2870 in the DKMS tree. You must run a dkms build for kernel 2.6.29.1-desktop-4mnb (x86_64) first.
In the ..../build directory is a symlink "linux-2.6.29.1-desktop-4mnb" to /usr/src/linux-2.6.29.1-desktop-4mnb and ...../src is a symlink to the same place. So, it looks like it is there (to me).

Then if I try to build the kernel in dkms it says it is not in the tree, so I try to add it to the tree and dkms says that there is no dkms.conf file (which there isn't). How do I correct this as well?

I don't know if you ever found an answer, but it sounds to me like you don't have the kernel source installed. You need it to compile kernel modules.

I never did get a working solution for the wireless. My solution became running 20ft of cat-5 from the router and just connecting to the LAN.
