Mandriva Control Center Disappeared
 

My Mandriva LE was running fine except when I booted it said I didn't have NIS. So I figured I'd set it up and the loading would all be "OK". I did this and at the same time was having scanner problems too so I messed with that but then then my Mandriva Control Center crashed, my icon for my Mandriva Control Center disappeared from my application bar and under menu/system/configuration/ "configure your computer" went south too. I can work around most of this and maybe all but I'd simply like to reinstall or fix what is/isn't there. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

maybe, you just lost the entry to the mandrake control center (mcc) in your (kde/gnome) menu somehow.
you can (re)create an entry for the mcc by right-clicking on the menu-button. then choose edit menu. now mandrake linux menu editor opens and you can choose where you want to recreat the entry (new program button on the top). default, as you said system/configuration. the path to mcc is /usr/sbin/drakconf.

you can also start the mcc in console, by becoming root and typing mcc in the command line.

Mandriva Control Center Disappeared
 

Thanks Robattack I was hoping that would handle it but I don't seem to have a drakconf file. I tried "locate" and came up blank. Another thing that had disappear is my Open Office. It's just not there any more. I'm going to check and see if MCC comes up with package installs. Same for OOo. My Firefox is also acting up now. Opens slow and eventually (after opening) asks for a profile. Ugghh. Someday I'll learn, "if it ain't broke..."
