Mandrake updates
Have been trying to update patches for my mandrake install, but so far have no luck. I run the utility,it serches for mirrors ,finds them, goes to install the updates then I get the error ,"it is impossible to install the updates, the medium update-source is missconfigured ,use the package installer to remoze the medium so it can be reinstalled and reconfigured ,or it may be it is unavailable at the moment , try again latter" ,or to that effect. I have no idea what this means. Locate won't locate it either. I suspect the message is refering to the server? Anyway any lite that can be shed on this I would appreciate, as I don't like running an unupdated os, Thanks in advance
I've had to try several different sources in the past before I found one that would work. Sometimes one that worked fine for a while, stops working. It may be due to maintenance being performed on that server, or maybe a server overload, or simply the files being out of date on a given server because they haven't had time (or personnel) to update things.
I almost always fall back on the zarb.org webpage, because it's so easy to use. You just choose your operating system version number, then the sources you want to use, and then you are shown what to cut and paste into a console to get those sources into use.
But as I say, you might have to try more than once before you find one that works for you.

I get this error sometimes and it seems like the server you are trying to connect to is busy or full or something. Usually I try a couple of hours later and it works fine. You can try updating your URPMI sources, too!
