Mandrake startup problems
I get lots of error messages during startup, and it's hard to read them as they fly by so fast but I could find something like this in pretty much all of the error messages:
-grep q ´^LIBSAFE=yes$´ /etc/sysconfig/system And then it refers to the line in /etc/rc.d/rc.sysinit where the error occurred. How can I fix this? |
yeah i'm relatively new too but did u see there is an interactive startup option at the begining of the boot process. It will prompt u to hit "I" and then will step thru all the processes one at a time. u can even skip process from loading to aid in troubleshooting. see if u can narrow down what process is causing the error messages.......

I did that, but it only stops at certain places, not all of them. I could find that it's not always rc.sysinit though, the other files used for starting the system are also affected and gives the LIBSAFE=yes$ thing too.
I think sound setup gave a different error that said something about egrep. |
yeah you're problem is way above my expertise. are u booting into the kde desktop even w/these error messages? also try posting trouble on different forums. here's one just for mandrake users:
