Mandrake Forgets Connection Settings
I've just installed Mandrake 8.1 and everything works as advertised except I lose my net connection when ever I reboot. Every time I boot I have to go to the Mandrake Control Center, Network & Internet Configuration and hit the Connect button. This is a pain. I'm using a LinkSys router, 3Com LAN card connected to a cable modem.
Why doesn't Mandrake save my settings? Confused Linux Newbie Jim |
Well if all you have to do is connect and don't have to change any other settings then most likely it isn't set to connect on boot.
Go to the directory /etc/sysconfig/network-scripts there should be some files called ifcfg-ethX. Edit the one for your network interface and make sure it has the line ONBOOT=yes |
Thanks Mik. I'll give it a try. Appreciate your time.

Opened the network script files and they all had the ONBOOT=yes so am at a loss as to the next step. I will probably reinstall Mandrake in the hope that the problem will be corrected.
