I have just installed Mandrake 9 and when I run any program it takes for ever to run it, need help to improve the performance. Also the boot process is slow, I didn't have this problem before with Mandrake 8.0 nor RH 8 (I had to change from RH 8 to MDK 9 becasue RH 8 could not read my win partitions and MDK does even the Win XP Pro's NTFS
)
This is my configuration:
Intel PIII 800MHz , 256 MB RAM , 30 GB , ATI AIW Radeon , Sound Blaster Live 5.1.
Does this happen with all apps or some special category? If it is for example only happening with apps that use the network, there could be something wrong with that.
You should provide some more information, otherwise you'll only get help if it is a generic problem that many MDK9 users face.
The system is slow with all the programs even the console but I realized that when I am connected to the net the system speeds up and suddenly averything works fine and the system runs well.
I have forgotten to mention that I have a NIC card installed and using a modem to connect to the net.
