Mandrake 9.2 Update Sites

Hello!,
I searched for this, but didn't find any answers that helped. My problem is I'm trying to update my Mandrake linux 9.2 computer. I have read places that a bug or something won't let Mandrake find Update sites. Does anyone know of a good update site I could use? Ans also, how do you go about setting mandrake up to use that site? Thanks

This may help

MDK 9.2 is still complaining (so to speak) when you download and istall a program, but most are successfully installed. Of course, there could be a problem from a few of the programs that it for whatever reason won't allow to be installed, but for now the sight is the best one I could find. On the other hand, if you don't mind hunting and sorting a little with a reasonable idea of what would be newer when ou see itg, you could also use,

http://rpm.pbone.net/.

At that sight you just need to place the name of any file you wish to update in the search box, and it will present everything it has related to that file including any new ones that may exist.

The last one is a bit moe difficult to deal with but it works well if you ahve time and do not need too many listings,

Good luck!

Hi,
I'm also running Mandrake 9.2 and I think I am having the same problem. Is this it (from the Mandrake errata page)?

Error scenario: When trying to install security updates during installation, after having used multiple CD-ROMs, the security updates are impossible to add.
Why: A bug prevents importing the pubkey file containing the GPG signature of the security updates packages.
Solution: Format a floppy disk with a DOS filesystem (in Linux, you can use the command "mkdosfs /dev/fd0"). Copy patch.pl [which is a link to the patch file] to the floppy disk. Remove the floppy and reboot using the Mandrake Linux 9.2 CD1 to do a CD-ROM installation. During boot, press F1 at the splash screen, then place your floppy disk that contains patch.pl in the floppy drive. At the prompt, type "patch", then follow the installation as usual.

Anyway, I think this question should be asked in the Mandrake section of this site. Maybe that is why there has been no response. I am going to post my similar question there.

Good luck.

maestro52,

I don't think the problem is knowing the name of a site. I think the problem is getting MDK9.2 to properly use ANY site due to the acknowledged bug in 9.2. The list of Mandrake mirrors is at mandrakesecure.net/en/ftp.php so getting the name of a mirror is not the problem.

Does that floppy work for you?

If it does make any difference, I would really appreciate it if you could explain it again. I am also a newbie but perhaps a dumb one because the instructions don't make much sense to me. Maybe it is the time of day, but if it works for you please see what you can do to explain it to me.
