Mandrake 9.1 RC3 or final?
Linux JLP writes "I'm sure a lot of people wonder: "Where is Mandrake 9.1? Shouldn't it be out now?". Well it seem that we will have to wait a little more as there appears to be Release Candidate 3 getting uploaded to mirrors. For example take a look HERE. Maybe this is the true final and it is just named like that until the ISO images get well spread over server. Only Mandrake people know "
Did you have a look on the link that I posted or not ?
Look again !
I can see it now, at that Czech Republic mirror, and it's on others too...the naming is different to rc2, notice the MandrakeLinux-9.1-rc3-CD1.i586.iso, if it makes any difference...
Jeez... again.. 9.0 went to 3 or 4 Release Candidates, each saying "Final Release Candidate" since number 2.... So this RC3 may or may not be the last RC before the Final .. I just tried Slack 9.0 and wasn't terribly impressed even though graphics & sound worked fine.. With the limited time I have for setting up a system, Mandrake 9.0 has spoiled me by giving me the Enterprise and SMP kernels in my Lilo menu as well as graphics, sound, CDR, network all nice and auto-detected with a TON of apps ready to run.
OS news is reporting that they've had access to the full completed version of 9.1 for a week now (http://www.osnews.com/story.php?news_id=3116). According to one Mandrake FTP mirror the ISO they're calling RC3 was uploaded yesterday so I'm going to go out on a limb here and say that RC3 is the final version.
