Mandrake 9.1 Kernel 2.4.21 error

Hi,
I am trying to install MDK 9.1 on my Dell Optiplex Gn+.

I have a 6 Ghd, 96 MB of Ram.

I get an error installing Kernel 2.4.21.0.13 mdki586.

I also get an error installing kde-i18n-en.GB 3.1imdkmonarch.

I don't get a GUI. I just get a prompt on bootup.

can you tell us what the errors are? what exactly are you trying to do? are you trying to boot a new kernel? did you roll it on your own or is it just what mandrake gave you as an rpm? are you able to get into mandrake?

Mandrake 9.1

I am trying to download 9.1 but I am having trouble with the Video part. I am running a Dell Gn+ ,166Mhz processor,6.4GHD.96 MB of Ram. I am using a Compaq Presario 1525 Monitor. I get know GUI. I just get a Prompt window. I was getting the Kernel error until I put in the the original 2 CD's I bought. I was using a burned 2 copies from a friend. I don't get the errors anymore. I just can't get KDE to come up with it's desktop. I kept trying different settings for my monitor and then would do the Test for graphics and it kept telling me to change my settings. The video card for the Dell S3 TRIO64V2-DX-GX. Video memory is 2MB. I am not sure on Horizontal & Vertical Sync settings. I was wondering if I sh get a newer monitor? It works with the Windows98SE OS. I have Windows also as an operating System.

Can you help?

Hi,
I must have had a bad CD. I got it to install w/o errors now but can't get it to connect to the internet.
