mandrake 9.0 pcmcia freeze

i installed mandrake 9.0 on my toshiba 2060cds laptop, and it seemed to go pretty smoothly, just like when i installed it on my desktop. the little lights on the network card even lit up, but when i tried to boot up for the first time, right after it OKs eth0, it says "initializing pcmcia" at which point it just freezes. i always thought that pcmcia support was pretty much automatic with mandrake 9.0 becuase it's built in? thanks for your help in advance.

oh yeah, and if i go into interactive setup, i can load everything except pcmcia, and it will boot up, but i find it strange that pcmcia was able to intialize during installation and not after.

Would be worth looking through the /var/log/ files
after a failed boot (booting with interactive and
skipping Pcmcia again) ... during setup it might
have found something after the PCMCIA part
(since it does that pretty much at the beginning,
looking for SCSI and/or external CD-ROMS)
that quarrels with PCMICA resources afterwards.
(I used to have issues with my PCMCIA TokenRing
and sound the built-in ISA Soundcard of my old
notebook)

Cheers,
Tink

P.S.: I'd probably consider this a hardware issue ;)
