Mandrake 9.0 No Video
I upgraded (actually did a clean Full install) From 8.2 to 9.0. With 8.2 I have no problem getting video. With 9.0 I tried the exact same settings with X config and even tested other settings and I still get a blank screen on the "Can you see this" Screen. and When I boot up it boots fine and tries to go to X and once again Blank screen. Once again I had NO Problems with 8.2 with the SAME SETTINGS. I installed RH 8.0 just to see if it would work ok and it did. I would rather have Mandrake 9.0 thou.

First off, what do you mean by a "blank screen"?
If your X server is config'ed properly, but you aren't running a Window manager (basically telling X what to do), then you will get a blank screen of sorts. Do you get a mouse cursor? Blank Screen, I mean it flickers for a second and it's like the monitor is off. This happens during the "Configure X" section of the install where the "test Screen" is suppose to come up.

You could try that out on the newer install (it should work with no problems). Failing that, the XF86Config file from Redhat should work as well. What's more likely the case is that your IBM monitor is not setup properly. Similar Happened to me....
I had very similar problems with my ATI Rage Pro IIC card &
GVISION L7EH monitor. Tried all kinds of manual settings for both n the Xf86config, with no luck. Finally reinstalled Mandrake 9.0 and tweaked the settings again. This time used XFREE 3.2.X and it worked. Apparently didn't like the new XFREE 4.X.X ??? |
