"no hdlist found" error

Hello all, quick question. I'm installing Mandrake 9.2 from download, and when the setup program asks me what partition to install to I choose "existing partition" and choose a partition that is formatted ext3. The install program responds with an error stating "no hdlist found". Has anyone else dealt with this or can you give me any pointers? Thanks in advance.
