Unhappy Mandrake 8.2 installation dies at partition check

Hi,
Hope somebody can help. Trying to install 8.2, the installation stops at partition check (hda). I have 3 drives:
2 IBMs 9GB - SCSI
1 WD 100GB - IDE
I'm running mandrake 8.1 and trying to upgrade. Any idea why the installation gets stuck ? Should the partition check take a long time ? Any help is greatly appreciated.

-alex

P.S. Prior to getting stuck, all 3 drives are identified, than the partition check starts and the installation hangs...

What do you mean partition check? When it checks the partition table for where things are, or when it checks for badblocks on your partitions?

Mandrake 8.2 dies @ partition check

hello,

In the beginning of install all h/w is identified and so are the HDs. After they are identified i get a message "starting partition check" (I don't remember the exact wording). That's when the system dies - it just sits there for hours, not responding to any key strokes.

Unhappy Try this

I was able to install Mdk 8.2 using one images file of the kernel
2.2.x (you can find this on the images/alternatives directory).
You can try this.

The problem is that after the installation that seems ok,
when i reboot the system, it is again stalled in the partition check fase.

Another point is that i prefer to use one Kernel of the family 2.4.x.
