Hi all, i'm starting to use amaroK to manage my podcast subscriptions, and having some difficulties and questions. Kindly advise, thanks very much!
1. i'm using GNOME actually, and not KDE, so i do not have kMail installed (use Thunderbird). At times, amaroK tries to launch kMail. e.g. i subscribe to this ByteTalk podcast, and whenever i try to play an episode (i always download the MP3 instead of streaming), it will try to launch kMail. Why does it do that? And how can i stop it from trying to launch kMail? (Or should i just install kMail?)
2. How do i configure or even find out where the podcasts are downloaded to? (As mentioned above, i always download the MP3s instead of streaming, but this downloading is also rather automated, i.e. just right-click and choose "Download Media".
3. I understand (or assume, rather) that once a podcast is downloaded, the "Download Media" option is greyed out. In other words, if the "Download Media" is greyed out, it means the media is already downloaded. (Please correct me if my assumption is wrong.) But i have two problems with this:
a) For one of my podcast, the "Download Media" is greyed out, but it seems like the file is corrupted or not downloaded.
b) For another of my podcast, the "Download Media" is greyed out, but it seems like the file is incomplete.
So is there anyway to force a re-download? (Or do i have to locate the downloaded file and delete it?)

when/if amarok crashes, it tries to launch the mail application, which it takes from the KDE preferences. If you have the KDE control panel (systemsettings) installed you can modify it in the KDE Components section.

Podcasts go in ~/.kde/share/apps/amarok/podcasts
You can also do a lookup of the filenames with this command (requires dcop to be installed):
Code:
dcop amarok collection query "SELECT localurl FROM podcastepisodes WHERE localurl like 'file%'"
This will give you a list of local URLs of files which may or may not exist on the filesystem (you could have deleted them).

Sounds about right.

Find the file in the ~/.kde/share/apps/amarok/podcast directory and delete it. You may need to restart amarok and then you can download the file again. Could be a broken file from the feed though...

Try the same thing

Finally, I wrote an amarok script which will cleanup old podcast files conveniently based on a regular check and the age of the files.
