man transcode

I am having one hell of a time sorting through the trancode man pages. I assume their is an option to specify what format I want my output file to be. It does not seem very clear.

I would like to convert xvid(avi) to mpeg2

any help would be appreciated

edit/added later

this is all I have tried and it is failing
Code:
transcode -i T*CD1* -o transtest -y mpeg2
I am getting these errors, it apears I am missing some librarys, that or I am just using the wrong options
Code:
[transcode] warning : /usr/lib/transcode/export_mpeg2.so: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory
[transcode] warning : (dl_loader.c) loading "/usr/lib/transcode/export_mpeg2.so" failed
[transcode] warning : (encoder.c) loading audio export module failed
[transcode] warning : failed to init export modules
[transcode] critical: plug-in initialization failed

If I use this option
Code:
transcode -i T*CD1* -o transtest -y mpeg2enc
I am getting these errors(seems like progress)
Code:
[transcode] warning : (encoder.c) audio codec not supported by export module
[transcode] warning : failed to init export modules
[transcode] critical: plug-in initialization failed

Any Luck?

Did you ever find a way to resolve this problem? What's the missing codec? where do you get it?

Thank you
