man doesnt work right

when using the latest kernel 2.6.10 I get the following error msg whenever I try to use the man command w/ any manual (in this case "man ls")

Error executing formatting or display command.
System command (cd /usr/man && (echo ".ll 12.8i"; echo ".pl 1100i"; /bin/gunzip -c '/usr/man/man1/ls.1.gz'; echo ".\\\""; echo ".pl \n(nlu+10") | /usr/bin/gtbl | /

does anyone know what this means and how to fix it?

THanks

It is a problem with the version of udev Slackware is using. There is a big thread here that explains the problems and gives solutions.
