making an iso bootable


hi,

i have just downloaded an iso for slox 4 however the cd should be bootable and isnt,

the cd hase all the proper files from what i can see.

does anybody know how i can make the cd bootable? so that it will boot to the /boot/loader/linux kernal. or how to make i boot disk for it.

Did you use the 'Burn/Write Image' function of your burning software? If you unpacked the ISO and burned only the data, it will not be bootable.

im not that daft! lol i have burned many iso images with no problem before. i dont know how to tests iso images under linux so i booted into windows (first time since xmas) and used magic iso to see if the image is bootable and it isnt

thanks any way though

its ok i know what you meen with people either copyin the iso as a file to the disk or unpacking it then copying it to disk

does anybody also know how i could instead setup my existing grub setup to have a boot option from cdrom? this would work aswell wouldnt it?

i just wouldnt know what to put in it, would this work?

(cd1,0) /dev/cdrom

i know with the bits in brackets you can put hd or fd depending on wether its a hard dive or a floppy but what about a cdrom?
