make pending patches KERNEL_DIR

I am following a howto on setting up iptables and there is a step that wants me to update the kernel and I have to feed it the directory that the kernel is in but I don't know where it is .

I am using Mandy 9.0

Well the default location would be /usr/src/linux which is usually a symbolic link to /usr/src/linux-x.x.x depending on which kernel version you have installed. You have to make sure you install the kernel sources rpm though.

you really really shoouldn't need to do anythign to the kernel, it's already set up right.
