Make my 'sound output' the 'input for the microphone'

Hi,

On windows I configured that my pc uses the output of my sound (music, movies, etc.) as the input of what normally is assigned to the microphone. (I don't have a microphone)

So if I should speak to someone on msn or skype or whatever, they would just hear the sounds I hear.

How can I fix this on linux? maybe with alsa? Also someone said that jack was maybe what I'm looking for, but I can't figure out how to make the program do what I want.

Btw. I'm using gentoo

Thanks!

Well, on my system I just plugged a cable from my wife's tape recorder output into my input jack, turned it on, and the sound came out of my speakers. I was using krec to make an acc file from the tape, but I see no problem using any other program that expects sound input.

So, have you tried it? Did you have any problems?
