Exclamation make ISO boot from K3B

Hi,

I'm running SUSE 9.3 2.6.11.4-21 x86_64. I'm trying to make a bootable .iso from a Gentoo download in K3B. I've used the RAW mode and it certainly writes the image as all folders are visible but the CD will not boot. I've tried slower write speeds but I can't figure why I can't get a bootable iso from this. It's not just the Gentoo download. I've tried Suse 10 downloads as well. The MD5 checksum is good.

I'm using a plextor PX-740A that's supposed to 'do it all'.

Thanks so much for any help.
Jerry

You are using the Record CD IMage option, right?

Is your computer configured to boot from the CD?

K3B is capable of writing ISO files to the media;

Menubar-->Tools-->Burn CD image

If that is what is failing then do it the old fashioned way, via the console or xtem session;

cdrecord -prcap ;tells which device to use and additional info.

cdrecord -v speed=X dev=<my_burner_here> -data the_name_of_the.iso

For example; cdrecord -v speed=24 dev=/dev/cdrom -data the_name_of_the.iso

Thanks,

Yes, I'm using the Tools | CD | Burn Image command. And it does burn the image. All the folders are there it's just not a bootable CD. I can boot to XP and SuSE 10 and 9.3 CD just fine.

I'll try it the old fashioned way like Lenard suggested.

When you say your comptuer doens't boot, what exactly does it do?
there might be a kernel option you need to pass.
