Make command not working? (NEWBIE)

Hi, i am having a problem getting the "make" command to work.
I downloaded Gaim 0.71 and i had followed the Installation instructions. (.tar.gz file)
after I ./configure it, it ask me to use the "make" to compile the package, but for some reason it won't work!!! gives me the following message

make: *** No rule to make target `install'. Stop.

so i can't make install or anything!!! can anyone please help me!!!

Redhat 8.0

Thank you.

There should be a file with a name like makefile or gaim.mk
Then invoke make with:

make -f makefilename-whatever-it-is
