make clean

I compiled ettercap from source code, but I forgot some options, so I completely removed the installation by running the command "make distclean".

However, when I execute the
[root@t1 ettercap-NG-0.7.3]# which ettercap
/usr/local/bin/ettercap

Why is still have executable and can run the program? It should remove the source code.

5. You can remove the program binaries and object files from the
source code directory by typing `make clean'. To also remove the
files that `configure' created (so you can compile the package for
a different kind of computer), type `make distclean'. There is
also a `make maintainer-clean' target, but that is intended mainly
for the package's developers. If you use it, you may have to get
all sorts of other programs in order to regenerate files that came
with the distribution.

It says there that "make distclean" removes the files created by running configure, eg. the makefile (I think), configure log, etc. When you run configure, it doesn't compile and install the package, the make commands do that. There are other threads on how to remove applications installed from source (there was on around here yesterday, I'm sure).. have a look for them.
