mailserver on fd
is there a distro of linux on a fd that just runs a mailserver?

Not that I know of. You can, perhaps, take an existing distribution (for example Tom's root boot disk) and load a pop3 daemon using another floppy.
The biggest problem is the space requirements of the daemon tools and a working kernel + userspace programs to configure stuff. A 2.88 Mb floppy would bring more possibilities, only not everybody has a 2.88 Mb floppy drive. Why don't you try Knoppix instead??? :-) Good luck! |
why knoppix?
I have red had and could set it up that way. What would be the advantage of knoppix
|
I mentioned Knoppix, because you asked for a fd (which I read as a floppy-drive) based version of Linux. For me, floppy-drive equals to portability. I associate portability with a plug-it-in-CD. I associate a plug-it-in-CD with Knoppix. So there... :-)
And yes of course, a Red Hat Linux based server on a harddrive would be better for server purposes than Knoppix. |
