Mail with the command line in Debian Sarge, how?
I've been struggling for four days now to send an email to my account on hotmail with the command line and I'm only getting errors!
Dont' tell me to read the docs! I've done that and tested hundreds of ways in my config-files without success. When sending to hotmail i get status=bounced in mail.log from postfix.
Btw. I'm using mutt, postfix fetchmail to handle email.
I only want "outlook" functionality but on the command line. Email works perfectly with KMail under KDE.
I have a email account through my ISP. Recently they changed to authentication (with pop3 id and password) and changed smtp port from 25 to 587. This also was easy to change in Outlook Express on windows and KMail under KDE on my Debian Sarge box.
Please could some friendly person guide me how I change my config-files (/etc/postfix/main.cf (?) and/or ~/.muttrc to get this going. I've managed to set up proftp and apache and all other stuff on Debian without any major difficulties but CLI-email got me stumped!
One of the problems are that many pages mix configuration as to use postfix as an external mail server. I cant do that cause my ISP is blocking port 25. I only need to do external email through my ISP mail account.
PS! I really have read all I found about this but it only got me more confused! Hope someone understand what I want.
regards, snickie
