mail-notifier 0.5.0 login failed

im using a program called mail-notifier version 0.5.0 to check my gmail account. (looks cleaner than gnome gtray).

however, every time it tries to update, it cannot connect and it says login failed. i was actually getting the same problem with gtray which is why i changed programs.

is therea reason for this? if so please give me precise step-by-step instructions as im a very new linux user!!!

Anyone? I can't get gtray to work either. I installed everything the site ( tells me to install except for "Ruby HTTPS library" whitch I can't download. I can run gtray but when it tries to retrieve the new mailcount it says "Unable to log into GMail. Check the account settings are correct and try again.".
