mail not being delievered?

some changes have been made, i don't know what i didn't do them, and it seems like since then less mail has been delivered to us. i check the /usr/var/spool/mail directory where we download the mail from (using outlook if that even matters) off the server. the accounts there are actually receiving some mail....but it seems to be less frequent and definitely considerably less in amount. i'm not sure where to start looking to make sure that everything is working properly. the amount in mail received dropped off dramatically beginning of last week. this points to some error in what is being received, or where the mail is being delivered to. if anyone could tell be where to start looking for trouble i would appreciate. i have very little experience managing e-mails, and it seems strange that we are still receiving some......not all or none.

seems like the mail is not getting sent out like it should. whether it's the business mail that gets sent out all day long. or whether it is my scripts e-mailing me reports.....nothing is getting sent out. i know where the pop accound is bring my mail in.../usr/var/spool/mail....but where is the mail being queued before it goes out. i'm afraid the queue is so huge it's reached it's max and now nothing is going out.... This....log files.....and anyother helpful places to start checking why the mail isn't going out, would be greatly appreciated. thanks
