mad at wpa2

my wireless at home is wpa2 enabled; so i tried to enable wpa2 on my intel 2200gb. I followed some instruction online and downloaded ipw2200-fw, ipw2200, and ieee80211. The instructions told me to make directory "wifi" in temp; gzip them, run rmmod, and then run remove-old. That is all i remember; the thing is that when I try to do mkae and make install, gcc-3.4 was not found and now my eth0 disappeared from networking connections.

Plz help,

Doug.

P.S. Thank you.
