Question Macchanger ????

I’m attempting to use the program called Macchanger but for some odd reason I can not get it to function.

I am aware that you have to disable the adapter before making a change.

So I do

Ifconfig eth0 down

Then I preside to changing my mac address. Which work perfectly.

Then I ifconfig eth0 up

The only problem here is that I’ve lost my connection an for some reason can’t get it back.

I’ve tried ifdown eth0 and ifup eth0 as well, but I still do not manage to have connection.

What am I doing wrong ?

Thanks in advance.

It is very possible your ISP binds to mac addresses. If thats the case, change your MAC the powercycle your modem for an hour, then try again.

Hmmmmmm

For some reason I don’t believe this to be so. This is because I have tried to use Macchanger twice once while connected to my universities network and another connected to my friends lan. What I have been told is that ifconfig isn’t enough to reconnect my connection because it does not give my mac an ip address. But I’m not sure if this is so.

Thanks for the input
