Question LVM drives have gone missing.

Here's my pvscan
Code:
  PV /dev/sdd1 VG Surplus lvm2 [931.50 GB / 163.97 GB free]
  PV /dev/sde1 VG Surplus lvm2 [931.50 GB / 12.66 GB free]
  PV /dev/sda2 VG Surplus lvm2 [930.47 GB / 66.69 GB free]
  PV /dev/dm-1 VG Surplus lvm2 [232.88 GB / 0 free]
  Total: 4 [2.96 TB] / in use: 4 [2.96 TB] / in no VG: 0 [0 ]
There is supposed to be two 250GB drives /dev/sdb1 and /dev/sdc1 both are missing. the /dev/dm-1 is sortof the /dev/sdc1 but the data is unusable.

Any ideas how to debug or fix this issue?

Umm just found this:

Code:
brw-rw----. 1 root disk 8, 0 2009-12-01 00:19 /dev/sda
brw-rw----. 1 root disk 8, 1 2009-12-01 00:19 /dev/sda1
brw-rw----. 1 root disk 8, 2 2009-12-01 00:19 /dev/sda2
brw-rw----. 1 root disk 8, 16 2009-12-01 00:19 /dev/sdb
cr--------. 1 root root 8, 17 2009-12-01 00:20 /dev/sdb1
brw-rw----. 1 root disk 8, 32 2009-12-01 00:19 /dev/sdc
cr--------. 1 root root 8, 33 2009-12-01 00:20 /dev/sdc1
brw-rw----. 1 root disk 8, 48 2009-12-01 00:19 /dev/sdd
brw-rw----. 1 root disk 8, 49 2009-12-01 00:19 /dev/sdd1
brw-rw----. 1 root disk 8, 64 2009-12-01 00:19 /dev/sde
brw-rw----. 1 root disk 8, 65 2009-12-01 00:19 /dev/sde1
I guess this means linux is not detecting these drives properly? how do I set the proper permissions and the b flag at the beginning?
