Lots of 1's and 0's
Please help! I just install Linux Mandrake 8.1 on my Windows XP system. I have a problem! When it boots up I get lots of 1's and 0's on the screen......and just keeps doing it. This is how i installed it. I have Windows XP on my 40gig NTFS formatted HDD and a second HDD - FAT32. (I am not sure how much of this is relevent but it is better than too little!) When It asked me about a partition I chose the second HDD and did Auto-Allocate and it created the swap space and stuff (i think). Then I carried on with the installation but I am not sure where the OS was installed to. I have this problem and I just want my system up and working again - With Linux would be a bonus! Can you please help me! If you need any boot disks please tell me - I have the install boot disk for linux. If anyone can help I pay you money - well I won't but I will be very thankful cos I want to use and learn Linux so so bad. Cheers for your help,

I have sort of the same problem. I think LILO has buggered up your master boot record. If you have a windows 98 startup disk, boot to that and type
fdisk /mbr and that should let you boot back into Windows. If you made a Mandrake boot disk, you should be able to boot from that into Mandrake |
