Lost top menu bar on Ubuntu Eee

I installed Ubuntu Eee. I have lost the top menu bar. Does anyone know how to get it back without reinstalling Ubuntu Eee? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Go to the bottom panel, right click and select "new panel" The panel should appear on top - but you can left click and slide it there if not.

Now right click on the new panel and select "add to panel" and a dialogue box will open showing the applets. Virtually everything that was on the original bar can be found there. Just be patient and it comes right back to where you
want it. Incidentally; you don't have to close the add dialogue until you have them all up. Then right click on each icon and select "Move" and position the icons where you want them. When all are in place go back and right click and lock them to the panel.

There ya go good as new!

There is no panel on the bottom for me to right click on. Is there another way? Maybe from the terminal.
