Looking for VoiceOverIP software

Hi everyone,

I want to be able to communicate with my brother who is on the second flor. We both run Linux, but there is no network so far. I want to create something like a simple network between us and also be able to talk to him over that network without an actual Internet connection.

To make it clear: I want to connect 2 Linux PCs together and use them as in-house phone.

Does anyone have any idea as to how can I do that?

Try Gnomemeeting, even though it's often touted for video, it's principally for voice.

FYI, Gnomemeeting is now called Ekiga. Other solutions are OpenWengo and Twinkle but I believe these require Internet access as they are much more like Skype. Ekiga should work over a closed network.

Thank you meng and Hangdog42,

I've thought about gnomemeeeting or whatever they call it, but was sure it's the same thing as Skype and as Skype can't do without internet I just skipped this as an option. Now, however, I'll look into setting it up. Hope it works. Wish me luck

Best wishes
