Looking for video editor

I need a simple video editor. It should be able to handle large files, and it should be possible to navigate single frames and export them to jpeg.

Which video editor wuld you recommend?

I'm using Debian Sarge on a AMD Athlon XP 2000+ with 500 MB RAM

Avidemux does that stuff.
It won't do effects and transitions, but it will do what you have asked.
