Looking for software to do scaled drawing of landscape design
I'd like to be able to do 2D drawings to scale. (Fit a drawing on an 8.5in x 11in sheet of paper but have 6ft x 6ft grid and represent a 160ft x 140ft area.) I can't figure out how to do this in:
* ooffice -draw * inkscape * scribus I used to do this in Abode Illustrator all day long. Please advise. |
None of those applications are very good in translating world units into a scaled drawing.
Inkscape is great, but suitable for artistic drawings, not for technical drawings like this. I learned QCAD for this purpose. (www.ribbonsoft.org). It will take you at most two hours to learn how to use it using the excellent tutorial it comes with. The way of entering your drawing is completley different from Inkscape, but it makes sense for technical drawings. (It resembles the AutoCAD way) jlinkels |
That link is broken/down:

Code:

Try www.ribbonsoft.com
Sorry for the mistake, but that should not be too difficult. who can complete these without errors: www.mysql.xxx www.php.xxx www.apache.xxx jlinkels |
Opera can, but I was using Konqueror today. :)
I take it there is no community ver. of this pkg. |
For Debian there is a package version 2.0.3.3 available. I pointed to the ribbonsoft site mainly for the tutorial which is excellent to get you on the road in no time.
But actually, the docs are available as a package as well. jlinkels |
