I am starting up a small service business, and need a good Linux based accounting package.
I've already looked at GNU Cash and it will take care of the core functions.
I would like to know if there is an accounting package that includes the following features
* Goods and Services Tax
* Has a job logging and tracking module OR can link into another application that provides the job logging / tracking functions. This module must be able to produce Job note reports, and send the correct total hours to the invoicing module on a job by job basis.
* Access by groups to individual modules within the program
* Quote generation
E.G. my service people should be able to access the job logging module, and stock module (for what little stock we have).
My preference is for a program that is web enabled because I will have multiple operating systems running in the organization. I see this as being the most effective means of providing platform independent applications.
I've been using sql-ledger for years. It's a good accounting apps. You can try this for your needs, if this is not enough, you can try openbravo, tinyerp . Check them out at sourceforge.net.
