Looking for a FOSS partition program with multiple simultaneous disk display
 

I've looked around and nothing seems to offer viewing multiple disks side by side (rather on top of each other) like the NT Disk Management, Acronis Disk Director, or Partition Magic. Is there perhaps some gem I'm missing out there? Or perhaps little known options/interfaces for parted or another?

An alternative would be really any mock-up solution. In other words, some way to have resizable sections of a bar for each drive, one drive to a row, to create a visual plan. Perhaps some sort of charting software?

Any step up from getting a whiteboard would be helpful. ;x

gparted looks pretty similar to the partition magic screenshot to me, but I am not totally sure what you mean - maybe I'm not looking at the same version of partition magic that you have in mind.

If this is not what you mean, please can you post a link to screenshot of what you want?

Having said that, gparted is by far the most commonly used stand-alone partitioner with a "friendly" interface. As far as I know, it's the only FLOSS game in town for this sort of thing. (LQers - I expect a torrent of alternatives to be posted!)

You can view multiple devices at the same time. I've always from first experience with parted thought that it was weird that you could only view one device at a time. Surely, one would think with so much effort being put into ports, interfaces, and live cd versions that someone would have noticed what they're missing from the big corp products.

Kind of a hack, but you could run 2 (or more) instances of gparted, viewing a different disk in each.
