Logout Lockup

Whenever I logout, shutdown or reboot the screen turns off and will not come back on unless i reset the computer. I'm using Fedora Core 2 and my specs are AMD XP2800+ Barton, 1gb geil PC3200 ddr ram, Radeon 9800, 19" IIyama vision master 1451.

Any ideas whats causing this problem? and even better how I can fix it.

I have partially found the source of this problem.

If I change something (display resolution, colour depth, mouse buttons... anything) in xorg.conf then logout, i can logout fine.
