Login returns back to login
 

:newbie: ALERT

Hey everyone,

I just finished installing slackware and cant wait to use it. The only problem is i try to log on as root, but all i do is load up the "you last logged on @ bla bla bla" and then 2 seconds later, the login pops back up. I log in fine, psw works, username everything. It even says welcome, and all that crap. I cant change anything cause what ever i type in looks like a username to the computer. I also tried booting with the floppy but no workie.

Any ideas? Its taken me almost 6 hours to get linux installed. 2 corrupted cds, 4 hdd messups (partioning wise) and now this. Well im off to bed.

u r tyring this in a text mode right??

so when u boot ur system

press ctrl+alt+F6

and u will be at another shell

try logging there
