login problems
Ok here is what I did. I changed my /etc/inittab to give me a GUI login rewal simple I just changed it from runlevel 3 to runlevel 4. Ok real simple right it,,,,,,Wrong
When I rebooted the machine now all I get is a stupid screen full of text and the last 2 lines read as follows INIT: Entering runlevel: 9 INIT: no more processes left in this runlevel and then it just sits there and I can't do anything. I boot off of a disk because this is a dual boot machine and that was the easyist way to do it for the now. I NEED HELP I can boot off of the CD but I don't know where to go and can't find my inittab file to change it. |
Ummm...first of all you wanted to change it to runlevel 5 not 4. Throw in a linux cd and go to rescue mode. Then change the 4 to 5.
