Yawgmoth7 11-01-2005 12:15 AM

Logged in for 10 seconds or less

I didn't find any posts about this except one, and it didn't help me much. Well, here is what happened. I restarted the computer booted into windows, did some things, the tried logging back into Linux(Ubuntu). And when i try logging in as yawgmoth7(That is the user name) and using GNOME, it says something about only being logged in for 10 seconds. There is a error log, but I'm not sure where it is kept(Somewhere in /var/log i imagine). But it is pretty big, so i haven't written it down. Before that i hadn't installed anything, or changed any settings that i can remember............

Any help is very much appreciated.....thanks

As root, go in and delete the .ICEAuthority file from your home directory. (the home directory of the user that you can't log in as).

In a shell, it would look like this
>> rm /home/username/.ICEAuthority*

Then log back in.
