log-in as root

Hi All.. I need some help please. I'm running mandrake 9.2 and I don't know how to log-in as root. I know I can log-in as root in the terminal, but thats no good for me. I want to be able to log-out and log-in as root with the mandrake interface. When I log-out the only user available is the one I created in the set-up. The reason I want to log-in as root is because I want to be able to edit some folders that I can't edit now because I don't have permision..

Thanks
JD

well i would just say edit the files in the terminal, but if you really insist on logging into X as root and you don't have the option in the menu, you can kill x with ctrl-alt-backspace or open a terminal and log in as root and type telinit 3 and then once it kills you X server you will only have the console, and then you log in as root and then type startx and it will boot into X as root..
