Loading Gnome


I just installed Redhat Linux 7.3, but it starts me into a Unix/Linux system, how do I start gnome, or a gui?

You can also add a line "startx" (whithout the quotes) to to your .bash_profile (found in your home directory) so whenever you log in it will start up...

You could edit the file /etc/inittab and change the line that says:
id:3:initdefault:
to read as follows:
id:5:initdefault:

You'll need to be root in order to edit this file.

This will boot your system to a nice little GUI login screen.
-
You could edit the file /etc/inittab and change the line that says:
id:3:initdefault:
to read as follows:
id:5:initdefault:

This will bring you to your login (no GUI) and once you have logged in will auto start "startx" for you...
