Smile loading additional modules in endian 2.1

hi all
i currently use endian community edition 2.1 to manage my firewall and internet connection. it currently uses 2 10/100mbs NICS and 1 1000mbs NIC. i would like to put in a second GBIT NIC so that i can communicate with my server the in DMZ at gigabit connection instead of 100mbs.

the nic i wish to load is a realtek 3169 chip which currently isn't supported by endian. i'm looking for a way to insert a premade module or hoping for some assistance in making one. i have tried the usual process that i am familiar with in debian but due to endian being so cut down to being a firewall only, it is missing some of the requirements i need to compile the module.

has anyone encountered this before? i am unsure if inserting the module is easier with this custom linux distro. is there a possible kernel upgrade that may be available?

Dale.
