Is there a way to monitor the temperature of my processor? I am running SLACKWARE 10 on a dell inspiron 2650... please help.. thanks!

Try modprobing i2c-sensor. Also, if you're using acpi instead of apm, you should also have "processor", "fan" and "thermal" as modules (unless you compiled them into the kernel).

kublador 09-08-2004 02:07 AM

hmmmmm.. i tried but there is no i2c-sensor module

kublador 09-08-2004 02:38 AM

hmmmmmmmmm

Santas 09-08-2004 12:29 PM

you need to install i2c (http://secure.netroedge.com/~lm78/download.html)

mkaman 09-08-2004 12:38 PM

You have both lm_sensors and i2c installed so maybe you haven't configured them correctly. As root run this command:
#sensors-detect
And follow the instructions that it will give to you.

If this doesn't work is because you need specific drivers for your hardware. Check instructions in the page that santas gave to add new modules.

Maybe updating lm_sensors solve the problem, but be aware, some versions are incompatible, check that out.

ghostwalker 09-08-2004 02:42 PM

type lspci -vv to see what hardware you have.

kublador 09-08-2004 07:58 PM

i already did that sensors-detect as root and followed all instructions before i post this thread..
this is the output of lspci -vv

the i2c and lm_sensors that i have are the latest versions..

ghostwalker 09-08-2004 08:25 PM

What is the output of sensors-detect?

kublador 09-08-2004 08:29 PM

i followed this.. but im still getting the same output when doing sensors...

mkaman 09-09-2004 08:41 AM

What is the content of your lm_sensor config file?
(mine is in /etc/sysconfig/lm_sensors in rh9)

Hammett 09-09-2004 08:49 AM

Follow this thread, it helped me a lot dealing with lmsensor
