linux windows boot failure

my issue is this...and if you can help me...i'd be grateful:

i had redhat on this particular machine...i am lending the box to a non-linux user. so, i'm putting XP on it.

i've wiped the drive and repartitioned and reformatted a half of a dozen times now to get the windows xp partition to boot...but alas it does not boot.

it gives this error: SYSLINUX 2.0 2002-10-25 Boot Failed

You need to re-write the MBR
use windows recovery mode... though Ubuntu might be a better solution...

Boot the windows XP cd and run fixmbr. That should take care of it for you.
