You can get the sources to kernel 2.2.x at kernel.org. Compile them and use them on any distro.

You might have some issues with certian software.

Certian versions of udev requires at least 2.6.17 or so. You might consider looking into that stuff, just so you don't compile your kernel and get a crazy problem.

Why would you want to use such an old kernel 2.2 it doesn't support new hardware.

I am facing a problem of mobile mesh software installation problem which the kernel version(2.2.X) is not compatible with the fedora core 4, 2.6.11-1.1369_FC4.
I had posted the problem on the link below:

If you have any ideas or suggestions about the problem, please leave your message there. Thanks

hmm
You are going to use it for an embedded device?

I would recommend something like Gentoo, Slackware, LFS, Arch, Rock... most of the "harder" distros would probably be better only becasue they give you a lot more choice for exactly what you need. Plus, I think they would be more apt to be able to direct you to some things that would be able to support a 2.2 kernel. I honestly think you're going to have a hard time getting udev of devfs to work with that (at least finding a version that will), but it shouldn't be too hard with how awesome google is.
