Linux on Dell installation problem

I have a DELL PowerEdge 1750 (rack server) and am trying to get SuSE 8.1 installed but it tells me that it cannot find the hard disks...I have checked the machine by booting up in Windows and Windows has no problems finding them. So, what could be the problem? Why couldn't the linux install CD find the hard drives?

I'm not familiar with the Suse install procedure, but with Slackware you have to choose the correct kernel for SCSI support. See if there isn't a similar procedure for choosing the kernel when booting into the install.

Does anybody know how I can have the SuSE linux install procedure delete all the current partitions?
